
When a 3-point shot by Butler missed at the buzzer, the Marquette Golden Eagles had finally snapped their three-game losing streak.
Marquette beat the Bulldogs 70-67 after watching most of an 18-point lead melt away.
The Golden Eagles (9-and-9, 5-and-7 Big East) had to scramble for players with freshman forward Justin Lewis sidelined with an injury and forwards Dawson Garcia and Theo John in foul trouble.
D-J Carton connected on six-of-seven shots to score 18 points and Koby McEwen matched that total. Hitting nearly 70 percent of their shots in the second half helped Marquette overcome 21 turnovers.
The Eagles return to action at home Saturday against Creighton.
