The Wisconsin women’s hockey team has retaken the top spot in this week’s U-S-C-H-O poll.
Not only did the Badgers sweep number one-ranked Minnesota, they outscored the Gophers 11-3.
High-scoring forwards Daryl Watts and Sophie Shirley are powering the offense for coach Mark Johnson.
The team seemed poised to grab a national championship when the coronavirus pandemic shut down the season last year. With a record of 6-and-2 so far, they’re hoping to change that outcome this time around.
Shirley says that’s the goal – making it to the Frozen Four, then winning the national championship.
