Officials with the Monroe School District say they are spending $6,000-a-month on hot spots for their students alone.
Virtual learning doesn’t come cheap during the coronavirus pandemic. The district is estimating it will end up spending $1.4 million that administrators didn’t plan for.
Money has gone to pay teachers for extra work and for the purchase of Chromebooks for students. State officials are hoping more help will be coming from the federal government.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction got $345,000 through the CARES Act last year.
