A 5-3 defeat against Minnesota Sunday was disappointing, but the Wisconsin men’s hockey team still earned a split of the weekend series against the number-one-ranked team in the country.
Wisconsin beat the Gophers 3-1 Saturday and that was Minnesota’s first loss of the season. A goal by Brock Caufield at 11:58 of the second period put Wisconsin ahead Sunday afternoon 2-1.
The visiting Gophers outscoring the Badgers 4-1 the rest of the way.
Sam Stange and Cole Caufield had the other Wisconsin scores. Senior goaltender Robbie Beydoun wrapped up a solid weekend with 19 saves in the second game.
Arizona State visits LaBahn Arena Friday for the first game of a weekend series. The Sun Devils swept Wisconsin earlier this year when several Badgers were missing from the lineup.
