The Lakeshore’s representative in the U.S. Congress has issued a statement regarding the chaotic scene at the Capitol two days ago.
Congressman Glen Grothman called the storming of the building by rioters “embarrassing for our country” and called out Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump Jr for behaving “irresponsibly”.
Grothman went on to thank the Capitol Police and the National Guard who, in his words, “entirely restored order to the situation by 9:00 pm that night.”
Grothman called for the apprehension of “as many of these lawbreakers as possible” and that “the public is informed of their backgrounds”.
Grothman went on to talk about the ratification of Joe Biden as the next President of the United States.
While he has been a staunch advocate of President Trump, he said “The idea that the President would be determined by a vote of Congress is both absurd and dangerous.” He asked his fellow Republicans to think about how they would react if the roles were reversed, and the Democrats attempted to flip the will of the people in their favor.
That being said, Grothman does still believe there should be an investigation into the election fraud accusations.
