A few details have been released since we first reported the original story this morning.
A 26-year-old Manitowoc man is hospitalized with “life-threatening” injuries as a result of a single-vehicle accident in the city this morning.
Manitowoc Police Lt. Robert Arps says that just before 8:40 a.m. officers along with MFRD personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Maritime Drive. A preliminary investigation indicates that the man was traveling south on Maritime Drive and Cleveland Avenue when he lost control, left the road, and struck a tree.
All lanes on Maritime Drive were closed to thru traffic for a little less than four hours to conduct the investigation, remove the car, and cleanup debris. The name of the victim or specifics of his injuries are not being released at this time.
Speed and alcohol appear to be factors and the accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information to aid the investigation are encouraged to call the Shift Commander at 686-6551.
