Practice for athletic activities at Manitowoc Lincoln High School is underway for the first time since March.
Included is preseason workouts for the Ships boys basketball team, which is scheduled to play their first game early next month.
Thadd Cornell is entering his 4th season as Lincoln’s varsity head coach. “It was an exciting day for the kids…just to get back in the gym and the school.”
Cornell admitted it was tough watching other FRCC schools play and their not being able to do so. “But, it is what it is….the kids are just thankful, and he’s thankful to get this opportunity.”
The Ships coach acknowledged it’s a disadvantage…but he points out that he has a veteran team.
Cornell goes on to say, “The big thing is that our kids have not been able to work out all summer. Just the overall conditioning is key…we’re not prepared right now to play in a game.”
Manitowoc Lincoln’s 1st opponent, Ashwaubenon, will have had 6-games in the books when the Ships open their schedule on Monday, January 4th at the home of the Jaguars.
