In what has been a pretty grim holiday season, the donation of a valuable gold coin at a Salvation Army site in Kenosha has improved spirits there.
The one-ounce 50-dollar coin is actually $1875. It was left in a red kettle bucket at the Pick ‘n’ Save grocery store on 75th two weeks ago. A Salvation Army spokesperson calls it a “wonderful surprise.” The coronavirus pandemic has made it hard for the Army to find volunteers and that is why the red kettle campaign in Kenosha has been struggling.
The red kettles will be operating in the area until Thursday.
