Wauwatosa police say a 35-year-old woman shot by a police officer last week is in stable condition. Her name hasn’t been released.
Police say she was using a wooden post to damage a squad, then advanced on an officer while still holding the post.
The shooting resulted in crowds taking to the streets in the city’s downtown area to criticize the police.
A 9-1-1 caller had told police about the woman using the post to violently attack a second woman at about 9:15 p-m.
Wauwatosa police say an officer confronted the attacker not far away and was “forced” to shoot her.
Police say it took several officers to take the woman into custody.
