Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol shot a suspect to death during an attempted carjacking at the end of a pursuit Wednesday.
Three troopers shot the unidentified man during the noon hour on Highway 26 between Watertown and Johnson Creek.
Authorities say the man being chased fired shots at law enforcement while he was trying to get away. Road spikes were deployed and the fleeing car was disabled.
Witnesses say the driver got out with a handgun and tried to carjack a civilian. That’s when he was shot multiple times.
The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the case.
