The Wisconsin Badgers were stopped cold by a much-improved Indiana defense in a 14-6 loss to the Hoosiers Saturday.
The Badgers fell to the .500 mark with a record of 2-and-2.
A last-minute comeback attempt fell short when a fourth-down pass was broken up in the end zone with 46 seconds left.
Wisconsin’s offense penetrated the Hoosier 40-yard line five times but came away with only two field goals.
Indiana was playing without its starting quarterback. Graham Mertz completed 20-of-34 passes for 202 yards, but he coughed up the ball twice on an interception and a fumble.
The Badger defense held the visitors to 217 yards and dominated possession of the ball.
Wisconsin is on the road next Saturday at Iowa.
