A Manitowoc man was taken into police custody over the weekend after a domestic violence incident.
Officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of Clark Street at around 7:30 Sunday night by the victim’s sister, who explained that the victim had used a secret code with her to let her know the victim was in danger. They created the code, where the victim would call her sister over Facebook messenger because the victim’s boyfriend has a history of abusing her.
The victim told police that the suspect had thrown her on their bed and attacked her before also holding her against the wall by her throat.
The man denied the actions, but due to the victim’s sister’s account of what she heard on the phone, he was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Battery, each with a Domestic Violence enhancer.
