The Board of Directors of the Helen Gadys Reis Lester Reis Endowment Fund have reached their goal of $30,000 to be divided between Peter’s Pantry of Manitowoc and TREP-The Two Rivers Ecumenical Food Pantry- to stock shelves and provide food to those who are struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic.
George Reis who sits on the Board of Directors says half of the matching funding was provided by the Endowment Fund, GVR Investment Management of Two Rivers, and Mary and George Reis.
Reis says, “There were additional contributions of approximately $13,000 from 60 individuals and the rest came from partnering with Festival Foods.”
Reis says two individual donations “really touched his heart.”
“One was from a young lady named Hannah Bauknecht who donated $160 of her sales from masks she made to help the spread of COVID 19. Another came from an anonymous couple who donated $50 despite her husband being off work three months due to COVID 19. She said they simply wanted to help and make a difference any way they could.”
Reis adds he thankful to live in such a generous and kind community. “My grandmother once said ‘If you have more than enough you should share.’ The kindness and generosity of the people here is truly inspiring.”
The Endowment Fund has extended the contribution time to December 1st to provide further assistance to the food pantries. You can send your contributions to Reis Endowment P.O. Box 388 Two Rivers Wisconsin 54241
