What started as a simple traffic stop has resulted in a 45-year-old Manitowoc man facing drug charges.
An officer was driving on North 8th Street in the area of Huron Street at around 2:15 AM this (Wednesday) morning on a standard patrol when he noticed a vehicle with a broken taillight. The officer pulled the vehicle over and noticed the male driver was acting more nervous than most people do during a standard traffic stop.
The officer learned that the man was wanted on an outstanding felony probation warrant, and he was taken into custody.
A search of his vehicle uncovered a small amount of Methamphetamine in a coffee cup, two Vyvanse pills (which is a schedule 2 drug typically used to treat ADHD), and a concealed knife.
Since he did not have a prescription for the Vyvanse pills, the man is now facing charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule 2 Narcotic, and a Concealed Weapon.
