Wisconsin hospitals say they are encountering challenges when they try to transfer patients to the Alternate Care Facility at the state fairgrounds in West Allis.
The temporary hospital has room for 500 patients, but it is treating only 19.
The A-C-F was set up to help overloaded hospitals – and they are overloaded right now. In some cases, patients haven’t consented to the move.
Recent changes have been made so the facility can accept a broader range of patients.
It is intended to serve patients who are recovering, but not ready to return home yet.
