The N-C-A-A can’t handle the financial losses if another season-ending basketball tournament is called off.
Right now, the organization is negotiating with Indianapolis on a plan to hold all of March Madness there.
Its insurance policy reportedly paid out $270 million when last year’s tournament was called off, but the N-C-A-A needs the $850-million it earns from March Madness.
The college athletics organization has an annual budget of some $1.1 billion.
A COVID-19 vaccine would help things, as would slowing down the rapid growth of new cases of the virus.
