With the first snowfall of the season hitting Manitowoc yesterday afternoon, City Officials have reiterated their regulations regarding parking on the street.
Last year the rules were changed on the subject. According to the rule change, Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels can call a Winter Parking Ban by 4:00 PM to take effect the following morning between 1:00 AM-6:00 AM.
When the ban is in effect, vehicles parked illegally on salt routes including bus & truck routes, arterial streets, State Highways, and County Trunks will receive a ticket.
City-wide Snow Emergencies will continue to be called by the Mayor as needed when a general plow of the entire city is imminent.
Violations of the winter parking ban will result in a fine of $50.00, while those violating the emergency parking announcement face a $75.00 fine.
Notification of the bans will be on the city website at Manitowoc.org as well as the city’s Facebook page.
