The Northeast Wisconsin Regional Director for the Better Business Bureau has a warning for consumers as we get closer to the pandemic-affected holiday season.
Susan Bach of the Appleton office advises shopping safe and smart because we know this is going to be unlike any other holiday season we’ve ever seen. “The National Retail Federation says there’s going to be a lot more online shopping, as much as 35% more than last year because of the pandemic,” Bach explained. “Retail stores are adjusting as well with less in-person black Friday specials and more online deals.” Bach emphasizes it’s really important if you’re shopping online that you use reputable websites and ones with which you are familiar such as Amazon and Target. Bach suggests, “If you’re going to go an unfamiliar website, look for those red flags that it might be a scam.”
She says if there isn’t any contact information such as a phone number, email, or physical location on the websites, those are all red-flags.
