Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels
Tuesday evening the Finance Committee unanimously forwarded the 2021 Executive Budget to the full Common Council for their consideration.
According to Mayor Justin Nickels, there was only one change requested, which was to eliminate the $390,000 for the repair work on Washington Street from S. 15th to S. 18th.
The motion passed by a vote of 3-2. Mayor Nickels voiced his displeasure with the change, acknowledging that the roadway is the state’s responsibility, however, “I do not foresee the state doing anything in the near future and this is a main thoroughfare into our downtown. This stretch of road is horrendous.”
The Common Council will meet on Monday, November 16th at 6:30 PM at City Hall to discuss the change.
Mayor Nickels encouraged citizens to contact their council representative “if you feel these dollars should be put back into the budget to repair this section of Washington Street.”
