A few hours after an Illinois judge approved the extradition of Kyle Rittenhouse, deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office drove him five miles to the Wisconsin border.
There, the 17-year-old was picked up by Kenosha County deputies at about 3:45 PM.
Rittenhouse is accused of killing two demonstrators last August and wounding a third, two days after a white police officer shot Jacob Blake in the back while trying to arrest him.
Police records show Rittenhouse told investigators where to find the assault rifle he had just used as he was being taken into custody in Antioch, Illinois. It was in the trunk of a friend’s car.
