University of Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says school officials will decide Tuesday whether to go ahead with this week’s scheduled game against Purdue.
Alvarez told E-S-P-N’s “College GameDay” that a dozen football players and 10 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Saturday’s game at Nebraska was called off and team activities were put on hold last week due to a coronavirus outbreak.
The Wisconsin program announced Wednesday that six players and six staffers had tested positive – including head coach Paul Chryst. The coach has been told he can return to work Thursday if he remains symptom-free.
The Badgers hold on to the #11 position in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll despite cancellation of Saturday’s. The Badgers did however fall one spot to #10 in the Associated Press poll.
