The Big Ten Conference has ruled this weekend’s canceled football game in Nebraska a “no contest,” meaning the Badgers won’t have to forfeit.
The University of Wisconsin announced Wednesday six players and six coaches – including head coach Paul Chryst – tested positive for COVID-19.
There weren’t enough positive test results to trigger an automatic cancellation, so Wisconsin called it off. That led some Nebraska fans to call out on social media for the Cornhuskers to get a forfeit victory.
The league backed the Badgers.
Chryst tested positive Wednesday morning, meaning he will be eligible to return to the sidelines for the game against Purdue.
Wisconsin and Nebraska will only play eight regular-season games. To be eligible for the conference championship game, a team has to pay at least six times.
