Nearly three months after the attack, Madison Police have arrested a suspect for allegedly trying to kill a homeless man while he slept.
The 71-year-old victim’s name hasn’t been released.
Police say Matthew D. Johnson was taken into custody in the city’s downtown area this week. The homeless man suffered multiple injuries during the July 30th attack, but none were life-threatening. He was able to make it to a nearby convenience store to get help.
The victim wasn’t able to describe his attacker, but investigators used surveillance video in the neighborhood to identify him.
