The Waukesha School District enacted its lockout protocol Wednesday morning when police were called to deal with an armed man struggling with mental illness.
Authorities received a call from a person who was concerned for a friend dealing with this mental health episode at about 9:00 a-m.
The man’s name hasn’t been released.
The lockout protocol requires students to stay in school and restricts activities like recess and off-campus lunches.
Waukesha Police were able to take the man into custody safely at about 1:45 p-m.
