Accused Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse will face no criminal charges in Illinois.
He’s currently being held in the Lake County juvenile detention facility on an arrest warrant from Wisconsin.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office says investigators have determined the rifle Rittenhouse used to kill two protesters and wound a third was never possessed in Illinois.
A news release from that office doesn’t indicate where the weapon is now.
The 17-year-old Rittenhouse turned himself in when he returned to Antioch, Illinois – after Kenosha authorities apparently ignored his effort to surrender there after the shootings August 25th.
He’s waiting for a Friday extradition hearing.
