A new emergency order issued by Governor Evers earlier this week has resutled in people differing in their opinions of it.
The order will limit indoor public gatherings to no more than 25 percent of capacity of full occupancy in an attempt to curb a huge surge of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases overwhelming hospitals statewide. Gatherings in indoor spaces without an occupancy limit are limited to 10 people, with the mandate starting Friday and running through November 6th.
Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack supports the order saying, “The order just really echoes exactly what we’ve been saying for a long time now and really more emphatically in recent weeks because of the increased spread. People really need to be avoiding crowded indoor places. That’s one of the areas that we know the virus spreads really easily.”
Waack added, “We do see a number of people gathering in crowded places and I think that is one of the reasons for the order.”
One person who is not in support of the order is 25th Assembly District Representative Paul Tittl. The area representative told SeehaferNews.com, “This newest order from Governor Evers is very disappointing. I would have hoped that the Governor would have worked with the legislature to develop a legal means to help people, but instead he decided to cut the hospitality industry by 75%, and the hard working people in Wisconsin are going to suffer from that.”
He went on to call on the Governor to “work with the legislature and with small business to develop a plan to combat this virus.”
However, Tittl did say that the virus should be taken seriously and asked people to take the virus seriously, and to follow safety guidelines issued by the CDC.
