Manitowoc County Courthouse has issued the following statement:
“The Circuit Court judges of Manitowoc County, in recognition of the rapidly increasing COVID-19 infection rate in Manitowoc County, and in recognition of our obligation to take all reasonable measures to ensure the health and safety of all people who appear in court, have determined that it poses too great a danger to all involved and to the community at large to continue to transition hearings to in-person court appearances at this time. We are therefore returning to the use of remote hearings almost exclusively, with few exceptions granted on a case-by-case basis. Accordingly, all jury trials not specifically required by statute are also suspended until further notice.
To be clear, court remains open. To the greatest extent possible, we will conduct any and all hearings by remote means, including but not limited to phone, video conferencing, and Zoom. If there is no reasonable alternative to an in-person hearing, accommodations can be made. Members of the public are encouraged to contact the Clerk of Courts at (920) 683-4030 for information as to how to observe any public hearing they wish.”
