The Mishicot School District announced this morning (Monday) that due to an increase in positive COVID 19 cases and the number of students and staff needing to be quarantined, a transition to virtual learning at the High School and Middle School will begin tomorrow.
Superintendent and High School Principal Dr. Paul Orlich says students at OHS Elementary School should report to school as scheduled. The High School and Middle School will close tomorrow with virtual instruction to begin Wednesday and all extracurricular activities are cancelled. In person school conferences planned for tomorrow and Thursday at both the High School and Middle School will be held virtually or via phone. Additional details on learning schedules and food service will be forwarded to all concerned tomorrow.
Orlich says that increased proactive measures have been implemented at the Elementary School to include keeping children at home if they are exhibiting one symptom or not feeling well. Students may not attend school with any medication such as Tylenol or cold medication that reduces symptoms and if you or any other family member tests positive/negative or in close contact with someone who does test positive this information must be provided to your child’s school.
The tentative plan to return to “face to face” learning is October 19th dependent on factors such as community spread and hospitalization rates. Orlich adds that “closing our schools is not a decision that is taken lightly. Please know that we are taking this action to protect the health and safety of our students-staff and families.
We thank everyone for your understanding and support as we move forward.”
