A small group of activists were in front of the Manitowoc County Court House this afternoon, as 47-year-old Cathleen Yauch was scheduled to have her initial appearance at 1:30 PM.
Yauch is accused of placing a racist note on a black woman’s car, which said it was a mock hunting license for black people, while using the derogatory term.
One of the people in attendance was Jennifer Estrada from Crusaders of Justicia, who said this is an important case. She called it “a huge step forward, depending on what the court decides.”
She went on to say, “If we are going to move past this there has to be some kind of justice, and we need to put out there that this is not acceptable.”
Estrada also said that she believes that this case is not indicative of the entire city of Manitowoc, but that “if we make

light of this case we could head down a very dangerous path, but if we actually seek justice and get it on this case, I think we can move past it and use it as a learning moment.”
Yauch is facing charges of Making a Terrorist Threat with a Hate Crime Enhancer, two felony counts of Bail Jumping and one count of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
