Several local and area teams are listed in the first high school regular season football poll of 2020.
In the Medium Division, Kiel, last year’s Division Four State runners-up-received votes as did Kohler. Sheboygan Lutheran Christian who defeated the Raiders 50-42 on opening night last Friday.
Chilton, which downed Roncalli last Friday and Little Chute also received votes. Xavier of Appleton is fourth, Freedom fifth and fellow Northeast Conference foe Wrightstown comes in at number nine.
Last year’s Division Four State Champion, Catholic Memorial of Waukesha is number One.
The Hilbert Wolves who opened their season with a 26 to 14 Big East Conference victory over Manitowoc Lutheran checks in at number seven in the Small Schools Division.
The Ledgers of St. Mary’s Springs in Fond Du Lac are number Ten. Oshkosh Lourdes is fourth while the Edgar Wildcats are number one.
Amongst Large Schools, Hortonville is tied with Waukesha West at number seven. Menasha receives votes and defending Division One State Champion Muskego checks in at number one receiving all eight first place votes.
The poll is formulated based on votes made weekly by sportswriters across the state who cover football on a consistent basis.
