Congressmen Ron Kind and Tom Tiffany are sponsoring legislation to rename the New Richmond post office after two brothers killed in World War II.
Their bill would name it the “Captain Robert C. Harmon and Private John R. Peirson Post Office.”
Captain Harmon was shot down over France a week before the D-Day invasion. Private Peirson was killed during the Easter Day assault on the island of Okinawa.
The effort is supported by the American Legion Post 80, St. Croix VFW and New Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
