U-S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is warning that the Chinese Communist Party is aggressively attempting to influence state and local governments.
Pompeo spoke to Republican lawmakers in the Wisconsin Senate chambers Wednesday. He said, “we see it all over in America’s Sister Cities programs, like the ones in Door County, La Crosse, Milwaukee and Richland Center.”
Pompeo claims those programs fall under the authority of China’s United Front Work Department, “the C-C-P’s official overseas propaganda tool.”
He said states can work more closely with the federal government to oppose those Chinese efforts.
