A 23-year-old Black man who was handcuffed in his own home last June has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Monona and two of its police officers.
A neighbor had called about seeing Keonte Furdge sitting on the home’s front patio June 2nd. Furge and a friend had just moved in.
Two Monona police officers responded to the report with guns drawn.
As more officers arrived, they were told he was living there with the homeowner’s permission.
One of the first responding officers recognized him and apologies were given.
His lawyer says the incident was “more than a misunderstanding.”
