Ryan Braun slammed his 350th career home run, helping the Milwaukee Brewers claim a doubleheader split Wednesday.
St. Louis won the first game 4-2 on veteran Adam Wainwright’s complete-game four-hitter.
Braun’s milestone homer was the big blast in a four-run first inning in the nightcap. Milwaukee won that one 6-0 when Brent Suter and three relievers combined on a two-hitter.
The Brewers made up a game in the standings on St. Louis and now trail the Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds for the N-L Central Division’s second guaranteed playoff spot by one game.
Freddy Peralta earned the second-game victory.
Brandon Woodruff pitched a complete game in the opener while absorbing his fourth loss in six decisions.
The Brewers are idle today (Thursday), then host the Kansas City Royals Friday.
