U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the House will remain in session until lawmakers deliver another round of COVID 19 relief.
“The original Democratic negotiating position was $3 trillion. We’ve already appropriated $3 trillion,” Congressman Glen Grothman told SeehaferNews.com. “You’re talking about another $10,000 of additional debt per person in the country. How’s it ever going to ever be paid back?”
Moderate Democrats have signed on to a $1.5 trillion rescue package endorsed by the bipartisan “Problem Solvers Caucus” a group of about 50 lawmakers who seek common solutions to issues.
Grothman, A Republican who represents Manitowoc County in Washington D.C., comments on the bill possibly being void of a second round of $1200 stimulus checks to individuals.
“We know that last $1200 stimulus went to some people who weren’t much worse off before (the pandemic),” he said. “For people who have unemployment I’m sure a stimulus would add something to it. I think the big problem in Wisconsin is that people have been waiting six months for their checks. I think if Madison can get people their money quicker we wouldn’t need a whole lot more stimulus.”
The bipartisan bill contains aid to schools-funding for state and local governments and renewal of lapsed COVID 19-related jobless benefits.
No word if or when action will be taken on this Legislation.
