The Milwaukee Brewers are taking Thursday off to savor the emphatic end they applied to a modest three-game losing streak.
With right-hander Corbin Burnes shutting down Detroit on one hit over seven innings, Milwaukee rolled to a 19-0 victory Wednesday afternoon.
The offense featured five home runs, including two by new full-time first baseman Jedd Gyorko. Jacob Nottingham, Ryan Braun, and Tyrone Taylor also hit homers.
It was the biggest offensive explosion for the Brewers in more than 10 years, while also setting a franchise record with 13 extra base hits.
Orlando Arcia and Taylor each had four hits and Luis Urias drove in five runs.
Milwaukee returns to action at home against the Cubs Friday with Brandon Woodruff getting the start. Coverage on 107.9 FM WOMT and WOMTRadio.com will begin at 6:35 PM.
