The Green Bay Packers and running back Aaron Jones are said to be getting closer to an agreement on a new contract.
Jones came of age last season with nearly 1,100 yards rushing, almost 500 receiving, and 19 touchdowns.
He made the team better by simply taking the field, as the Packers expected points-per-play were third in the N-F-L when Jones was on the turf. When he was standing on the sidelines the Packers were 29th.
Jones isn’t expected to get a $16-million deal like Christian McCaffrey, but he could triple his pay to about $6 million – possibly before the 2020 season starts this weekend.
The Packers have also announced plans for a virtual pep rally Saturday before the team’s season opener at Minnesota.
