The 8-3 loss drops the Brewers five-and-a-half games behind the Cubs in the National League Central Division standings.
Spencer Turnbull started for the Tigers and didn’t allow a run through six innings, while Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser was knocked out in a five-run fifth inning, suffering his fourth loss.
Former closer Corey Knebel was activated before the game and tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
