Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is calling state lawmakers back to the Capitol next Monday for a special session on policing accountability and transparency.
The decision was undoubtedly brought on by the officer-involved shooting of a Black man in Kenosha Sunday.
Evers wants the Legislature to take up a package of criminal justice reforms he announced earlier this year.
The bills call for statewide standards for use of force, a ban on choke-holds and no-knock warrants, and a requirement that law enforcement officers receive de-escalation training each year.
