The University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team has received a nonbinding oral commitment from a standout defenseman in the Toronto area.
Shawn Ramsey made his decision last weekend.
This is a deal for the future on both sides, with Ramsey expected to come to Madison no sooner than two years from now – and it could be three.
Ramsey says he had heard from New Hampshire, Colorado College and Denver earlier this month, but U-W was the only one to make a formal offer of a scholarship.
Another player, 15-year-old forward Aiden Fink from Calgary, also committed to the Badgers over the weekend.
