Manitowoc Lincoln and the other nine member schools in the Fox River Classic Conference won’t be having high school football and other sports this fall.
A vote by FRCC superintendents and administrators moves the athletic activities to the spring of 2021.
According to published reports in Green Bay the conference based its’ decision on concern for the health & safety of student athletes, coaches, & trainers with the risk of COVID-19, a strong desire by schools who are opening the academic year with in-person or blended schedules to remain open but reduce the risk of spreading the virus, guidance from public health officials who recommend social distancing & limiting travel when possible, and mitigating the risk of COVID-19 spread posed by team transportation, disinfecting sports equipment and player uniforms.
Another factor playing into the decision was the increasing numbers of college conferences and prep governing associations that have decided to move to a spring schedule.
