Thanks to his big weekend in Ohio, Madison golfer Jerry Kelly is automatically qualified for The Players Championship next March and he has a five-year exemption into the P-G-A Tour Champions’ season opener in Hawaii.
Kelly picked up a $450,000 winners’ paycheck after claiming a two-shot victory at the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship in Akron over the weekend.
Every tournament has at least one big shot for the winner – and Kelly’s was a hole-in-one on number 12 Sunday. He had a one-shot lead at the time and needed a boost. That gave him some breathing room when he posted a double bogey on 18.
