A work-release inmate who didn’t return to his cell is being held in the Green County Jail while he waits to make a court appearance.
40-old Matthew Schmid was taken into custody in Rock County when a deputy made a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle Friday.
Deputies from Green Bay picked him up later that day.
Schmid is now charged with felony escape and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
