A Sunday morning fire at an apartment complex in Cudahy has left one 56-year-old resident dead and 50 people without a home.
A firefighter was among five people taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Fire crews say they saw smoke coming from the 10th floor of the building when they arrived shortly before 7:30 a-m.
Many residents were already standing outside. The fire was contained to the unit where the dead woman’s body was found. Her name hasn’t been released.
More than 100 firefighters from several agencies took about an hour to put the fire out.
