Business leaders in Madison say the cancellation of Badger football is going to have a major impact on the local economy.
Downtown Madison President Jason Ilstrup says each home game supports about 3,000 jobs and brings in $16 million to Madison businesses. Hotels, restaurants, bars and the farms that feed the restaurants will be hurt.
Ilstrup says some downtown Madison businesses get as much as 70% of their annual revenue from home football and basketball games and a few other large downtown events.
