
The Shoreland League Championship Series begins tonight in Manitowoc as the defending champion Manitowoc Bandits host the Denmark Devil Bears in Game One of the best-of-three series at Municipal Field.
The Bandits earned their way back to the title series by sweeping the Casco A’s in the semifinal round two games to none.
Manager Chris Cisler’s team features a powerful offense led by first baseman Chris Rohr. The ten-year veteran won the League Batting Title with a .407 batting average. Catcher AJ Dollinger leads the Bandits with 16 RBI’s while Luke Mandich anchors the pitching staff with a 6 and 0 record with Adam Dietrich leading the Shoreland League in strikeouts.
The Devil Bears swept the Algoma in two straight outscoring the ‘Guins 22 to 2 with two pitchers combining for a “no hitter” in the series clincher last Wednesday night.
The Bandits swept the two-game regular season series winning 6-5 June 19th in Denmark while clinching the Shoreland League regular season title with a 5 to 1 triumph July 27th in Manitowoc.
The series shifts to Highbridge Field in Denmark for Game Two Friday night with Game Three-if necessary-back at Municipal Field Saturday night.
All three games start at 7:30 and will be broadcast on 97.1 WCUB and CubRadio.com with Bandits “ON DECK” airing at 7:15.
