Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner has told Wauwatosa’s mayor he can have federal law enforcement agencies step in to help while tensions grow between protesters and local police.
The Wisconsin Republican’s letter was sent to Mayor Dennis McBride after protesters were accused of assaulting Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah at his girlfriend’s home last weekend.
State lawmakers David Bowen – who says he was at the protest – said Mensah was the instigator.
Wauwatosa police have labeled Bowen’s claims “false information.” Mensah is on administrative leave while his involvement in a third fatal shooting in the last five years is checked out.
