
Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has taken a big first step on his quest to succeed retiring Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner.
Fitzgerald won his party’s primary Tuesday by a wide margin.
In a legislative race getting a lot of attention, former gubernatorial candidate Kelda Helen Roys emerged from a crowded Democratic field to basically replace retiring longtime state Senator Fred Risser, a political institution in Madison.
Election officials report they had far fewer problems Tuesday than they had to deal with last April when the coronavirus pandemic was exploding.
