
Jessica King easily defeated two Democratic challengers in the Wisconsin primary yesterday and now advances to oppose Glenn Grothman for 6th district Congressman in November.
King, who is an attorney & vice-president of a company representing hospitals & patients against health insurance companies, received 75-percent of the votes, or just over 38,000. Michael Beardsley finished a distant 2nd in the three-way runoff with just under 7,900, and Matthew Boor garnered nearly 4,6000 votes.
The district-wide outcome followed a similar pattern here in Manitowoc County, where King totaled 3,361 votes, compared to 743 for Beardsley and 582 for Boor.
Grothman running unopposed in the Republican primary picked up 4,431 votes.
In the 25th Assembly District, Democrat Kerry Trask was on 2,523 ballots setting the stage for his November 3rd runoff against Republican incumbent Paul Tittl, who received 2,572 votes.
In the 2nd Assembly District, Manitowoc County vote totals have Democrat Mark Kiley at 1,169, while Republican Shae Sortwell picked up 1,297 tallies.
Manitowoc County Clerk Jessica Backus says only 16% of those registered actually voted, with 61% of them being absentee ballots.
