A Manitowoc man was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly swung a hammer at his girlfriend’s father.
Officers were sent to the father’s residence in the 3000 block of Coolidge Place at around 10:00 PM and spoke with the victim, who was sitting outside.
The man told officers that his daughter and her boyfriend had been staying at his home for the past couple of nights, but due to their constant arguing, he wanted them to leave. When he confronted the 25-year-old man, he claimed he didn’t know why he was being kicked out.
The man reportedly walked into the kitchen, grabbed a hammer, and swung it at the victim, who then tackled the man to the ground. The victim did let the suspect go, who then left the scene.
He was later found at his mother’s house and denied any wrongdoing. The story he told the officers changed multiple times, and contradicted itself, so he is now facing charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety and Disorderly Conduct.
